State Farm Wrongfully Denied Katrina Claims

Is anyone surprised that a giant insurance company has defrauded it's customers to increase profits? A Houston Chronicle article reports that two sisters working for a State Farm contract company revealed the company's fraudulent tactics to deny Katrina victims' claims. According to their lawyer, the company manipulated engineers' reports of storm damage. Several reports were based on a "cookie-cutter" template that concluded water or wind-driven storm surge was responsible for damage.

Originally posted at InjuryBoard by Ricky Bagolie

Your Rights Under New Jersey Workers' Compensation

What is workers' compensation (also known as workers comp)? Laws passed by New Jersey require that your employer, or your employer's insurance company, compensate you, or your family, for injuries or death that may occur while you are working.

Speak to a workers' compensation lawyer if you are unsure of your rights or are denied benefits as the consultations are ususally free.

Benefits you may be entitled to:

Weekly benefits while you are temporarily totally disabled and unable to work.
Payment of your medical expenses.
Weekly payments or a lump sum payment for partial or total disability resulting from a work related injury.

You can recover a money award for injuries suffered from an accident on the job. You may also collect compensation for occupation injury and disease resultiing from exposure to noise, dust, fumes, asbestos and chemicals. Examples of some medical conditions which may be caused by workplace exposure are Lung conditions, Cancers, Heart conditions, Asbestosis, Hearing problems, Eye, ear, nose and throat problems and repetitive stress disorders (e.g., carpal tunnel syndrome).
