Everlasting Distributors, Inc., in conjunction with the FDA, is recalling Blue Ocean Smoked Indian Sardine Tamban in 8 oz. packaged frozen because it may be contaminated with the bacterium that causes botulism, which is a potentially life-threatening food-bourne illness.

Blue Ocean Smoked Indian Sardine Tamban was distributed in New York and New Jersey areas and it reached consumers through retail stores. Blue Ocean Indian Sardine Tamban comes in an uncoded white styropor foam tray and vacuum packed with a clear plastic bag.

So far no illnesses have been reported to the company. The possibility of contamination was found during routine testing by the company.

The FDA and Everlasting Distributors, Inc. are warning all consumers to not eat any of the product, even if it does not seem to be spoiled or contaminated.

Side effects from botulism begin anytime from 6 hours to 2 weeks after consuming the botulinum toxin. Symptoms can include dry mouth, difficulty swallowing, blurred vision, slurred speech, drooping eyelids, and muscle weakness all down the body. Botulism can cause respiratory and body paralysis, which can lead to death due to respiratory failure.
