Seoul Shik Poom Recalls Frozen Salted and Dried Yellow Croaker

Seoul Shik Poom, Inc., in conjunction with the FDA, is recalling Frozen Salted and/or Dried Yellow Croaker because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which is a bacteria that can cause sever illness or even death.

The FDA has stated that consumers should not consume any of these products, even if they do not smell or look spoiled.

Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision, and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.

These products were sold in New York, New Jersey, and Maryland and was sold through retail stores. The Yellow Croaker comes in a clear plastic bag and is tied with a rope. The problem with the product was discovered during routine testing and so far no illnesses have been reported to the company.
